01 Reaching the editorial desk

OrderFlow Metrics Editorial Desk answers correspondence about the ATAS configuration reference: unclear sections, parameter values that no longer match a build, requests for a dated extract of a page, and reports of broken or missing files on this site.

Correspondence is read by the editor of record for the product line concerned. There is no general support line and no telephone queue: the desk telephone is a single line answered during Portland office hours, and the editorial address is the fastest route for anything that needs a written reply.

02 What to include in a message

A message that names the page, the numbered section and the build it was read against is resolved in a single exchange. Where a value appears to have changed, quoting the label text exactly as it appears in the interface removes almost all ambiguity.

  • The page title and section number you are writing about.
  • The build or release cycle stated at the top of that page.
  • The exact label text, where the question concerns a parameter.
  • What you observed instead, if a value no longer matches.
  • Whether you would like the reply kept private.

Messages about accessibility are given the same routing as technical reports and are handled with the same expectation of a written answer.

03 Accessibility and feedback

The desk aims to keep every published page readable without a pointing device, legible at large text sizes, and understandable when read aloud by assistive software. Diagrams carry short text descriptions, tables name their columns, and headings follow a single numbered order on each page.

If any page fails one of those aims, a note to the editorial address describing the page and the difficulty is enough. It is logged in the same register as a factual correction and resolved in the next cycle.

Channels for different kinds of report
ReportChannelAnswer
Parameter no longer matchesEditorial emailWritten, cited
Page hard to read or navigateEditorial emailWritten, logged
Broken internal fileEditorial emailWritten, fixed
Time-sensitive queryDesk telephoneVoice, then written
A telephone call is best used to confirm that a written message arrived; the substantive answer is always issued in writing so that it can be filed.

04 Expected response times

The desk answers in working days, Monday to Friday, excluding United States federal holidays. A first acknowledgement is issued within one working day for questions and within two working days for a longer review or a workshop arrangement.

  1. Message received and registered against a page and section.
  2. Acknowledgement sent with the name of the editor of record.
  3. Technical read against the stated build.
  4. Written reply issued with page and section citations.
  5. Resolved item listed in the next cycle's correction note.

Queries that arrive during a publication cycle may be answered against the build already in review; where that is the case the reply will say so and note the cycle in which the change will appear.

05 Message form

This form is a local demonstration. Submitting it only opens the confirmation page on this site and transmits nothing to any server. To reach the desk in practice, use the editorial email address or the desk telephone number given above.

Please include the page and section you are writing about so that the message can be registered without a second exchange.
